Title: Savage Javelin for sale
Post by: True blue on December 03, 2019, 11:16:52 PM
A Savage Javelin that was uploaded by Merc in the List of Javelins (i.e. number 127) a few years ago, has been advertised for sale on Gumtree (listed 28/11/2019). It looks to have moved from W.A. to Tasmania, since it was included in the list. It's advertised as having a 90hp mercury which "runs well" and "boat has reg trailer donít".

Out of interest, what was the asking price of the rig?
That model 90hp Merc (1984) was only available on 20" (long) shaft. I wonder how well the transom of the Javelin has been modified?

The asking price of the rig is $1600.
I have attached a photo of the rear of the boat with a shot of the transom.

I've seen worse Transom jobs.
The name of the vessel is certainly concerning.

Advertised as "Vintage boat for sale. Savage javelin 1960s, trailer rusty. Motor hasn't run for 7 years" for $1,200 on Gumtree.

This boat was uploaded onto the "Just Javelin" page in 2021 by Mercman as the 35 boat listed.

Looks to be quite an original boat with a period engine.

I said that Mercman listed this boat in 2021, but I should have written 2010.

The motor is a 1961 500.
The control box is 1965.
The hull is a least a 1967 model, as it has original "Savage" decals on the rear quarters rather than Chromed cast badges.

She tells quite a story!

Savage Javelin that was recently purchased by a member of one of the boating Facebook pages. This boat was added to the list of Javelin's on the Board Website a few years ago. It's looking better than ever.

A bit sad to find a classic boat in this condition, but I believe that this boat has now gone to a good home.
