Title: Old Skool Fish finder
Post by: senojn on May 17, 2019, 11:53:29 AM
Cleaning SX 2  I have come across 3 brand new spark plugs ( thought they were used ) along with 100 metre roll of strip chart recorder paper and thought subject may be of interest .
The roll fits into my 1960 Furuno 200 Mark -3 fish finder.
The pick up (since removed ) was under the hull  and sent to the unit which recorded by needle on to the moving paper .
It is 30 x 20 x 15cms and weighs about 6 kgs . :o
Has nothing in common with today's lightweight colour units

G’day Neil
I find that really interesting. We think of that tech more recent. I bet It cost a small fortune in the day.

Hi David
The pic really doesn't do it justice .It is a complicated instrument .
I have the manual and all technical specs plus the invoice no. but no price .
Given that the original boat/motors/trailer cost more than a house and land in Sydney the sounder would have been pricey.
I think that their market was professional/trawlers etc.
